I was thrilled to find the free pattern for this quilt block. The quilt I'm making is for my niece, who used to teach kindergarten before staying home with her boys. For her 2nd son's birth, she requested an alphabet quilt, with all 26 letters with coordinating designs (C-Clown; D-Duck)plus an embroidered name square. The layout revealed 4 open spaces for creativity. I thought a schoolhouse quilt block would be perfect. So I was thrilled to find it online and for free! The only confusing element to me is that it was labeled to be an 8" block, when in reality it printed at 7 1/8". I had to enlarge it slightly anyway, but just thought the misrepresentation was misleading.

I spent the last year in a buck-a-block program in all red & white and I'm using this block with those where the house "side" is and it's looking really great! Thank you for sharing!
